Registering to vote
If you are not on the electoral register you cannot vote.
To vote in the Mayoral and London Assembly elections you must
register by 5pm on 16 April 2008. You just need to fill in and sign
a simple form.

elections if you are over 18, live in London, and are a British,
Commonwealth or EU citizen.

As many as 10% of Londoners are not registered to vote - over
half a million people.
If you pay council tax, you are automatically on the register.
You must fill in separate forms.
It is difficult to get loans and open bank accounts if you're
not registered.
